The Early Start Discovery Space has a passionate, busy and fun team behind the scenes.
Professor Marc de Rosnay
Professor and Academic Head, Early Start
Marc joined Early Start in 2014 because of his belief that early intervention provides the single best mechanism to improve children’s lives. For Early Start, he is leading transformational initiatives involving the University of Wollongong and the community with the goal of improving educational and social opportunities for young children in regional, rural and remote contexts. Marc’s research focuses on social and emotional development in the early years, and the ways in which children’s growing understanding of the world (cognitive development) affects their experience.
Manager, Experiences and Visitors, Early Start Discovery Space
Martha has a passion for Education, and this has been the common thread in all her positions over the years. Firstly she studied Teaching & Education at UOW and worked for many years as a Primary School teacher in various locations in NSW. She then expanded her skills, completing her Masters of Science Communication at ANU while working at Questacon where she focused on developing and presenting science shows to schools groups, educators and the community. Her role at Questacon also saw her establish mini science centres throughout rural communities in the Northern Territory, Queensland, Tasmania and NSW. She continued working in an Education role – but this time for Country Fire Authority and REMONDIS teaching the community about fire safety and recycling respectively, before beginning at the Early Start Discovery Space. Martha started as Floor Supervisor and then was promoted to Manager, Experiences and Visitors, where she has applied her knowledge and experience in creating fun, engaging experiences for children and families.
