Speakers Series – Healthy Eating Habits for Children

Healthy Eating Habits for Children

We’re excited to continue our Speakers Series for 2017, which will continue the tradition of featuring various early childhood experts providing parenting information sessions on topical areas throughout the year. The talk will provide clarity on getting the balance right – we know how confusing it is for parents navigating this space, and with so much information out there it is hard to make sense of it all. You will have an exclusive opportunity to hear from Accredited Practising Dietitians, Megan Hammersley and Jenny Norman from the University of Wollongong’s Early Start. Megan and Jenny will answer questions and provide useful tips to assist you in ensuring your child is receiving the right nutrition, and is establishing healthy eating habits.

The talk will cover dietary guidelines for children from birth to 10 years as well as information on the following:

  • Reducing sugar and saturated fat consumption
  • Increasing fruit and vegetables
  • Healthy snacks
  • Reading food labels
  • Tips for fussy eaters
  • Modifying recipes
  • The food environment, featuring food marketing and policies
  • A brief overview of Early Start research in the nutrition space

Guests will have an opportunity for Q&A time with Megan and Jenny. This event is not to be missed for parents!
