Early Start is home to world-leading researchers that are investigating real-life challenges that have a transformational impact on the lives of children.

We’re always on the lookout for children and families to participate in our important research studies. Check out our current research below and get involved!

Time for Healthy Habits Research Study

Looking for parents or carers with a child aged 2 – 6 years.
Establishing healthy lifestyle habits in early childhood can set your children up for a lifetime of good health. Researchers will be investigating the effectiveness of how information is consumed (online, telephone, printed materials).

If you would like access to valuable information and support around healthy eating, physical activity, screen time and sleep, then join our 12-week study. It is free and can be completed in your own home. You will just be required to complete three telephone interviews.

Omega Kids Research

Looking for children aged 3 – 5 years
We’ll be investigating the effects of omega-3 supplementation on preschool children’s self-regulation.

For a 12-week period, children will be asked to take an omega-3 powder OR placebo powder at dinner (dissolved in a drink – don’t worry they won’t taste it!). They will also be required to attend two visits to the Discovery Space (one prior to supplementation and one after) for approx 1 hour per visit to participate in activities while parents complete a questionnaire.

At the first visit, participants will receive a Discovery Space family day pass OR an $18 Gift Shop voucher. At the completion of the study, participants will receive either an annual family membership to the Discovery Space (value of $160) OR a Gift Shop voucher of $80.
